GHRP-2 is an updated hexa-GH-releasing peptide and has been analyzed in dose and mechanism responses against GHRP-6. In one study, the researchers analyzed GH secretion mechanisms of GHRP-2 and GHRP-6. GHRP-2 and GHRH was administered 1ug/kg dose and the result was measured. The same for GHRP-6 and GHRH. The result was, GHRP-2 increased intracellular cAMP, and however, GHRP-6 did not. Both GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 did increase GH release. Adenylyl cyclase inhibitor was added and it prevented GHRP-2 to accumulate cAMP or GH. GHRP-6 accumulated GH under these same conditions without the need for cAMP stimulation.3 This explains the different mechanisms between the two peptides. ACTH, cortisol and prolactin are all slightly elevated above GHRP-6 levels when GHRP-2 is administered at 2ug/kg daily for an extended period. GHRP-2 stimulates Ghrelin secretion in a similar fashion as GHRP-6 does, but to a much lesser extent. The secretagogue activity is enhanced when D-Trp is replaced by D-2-(2-naphthyl) Ala.
